Keri Sullivan Cote Endorsement

As a born-and-raised Melrosian, long-time resident, and parent, I am proud to support Brad Freeman for Ward 4 City Councilor. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Brad for many years as our children have grown up together—crossing paths in our schools, on the ballfields, and throughout the community. Brad has even coached my kids in baseball, and through that experience, I’ve seen firsthand his patience, fairness, and genuine care for our children. He leads by example, encouraging kids to work hard, support one another, and take pride in their community—qualities that reflect the kind of leader he’ll be on the City Council.

Brad is exactly the kind of person we need representing us—someone who listens, brings people together, and takes thoughtful action. He’s running for City Council because he truly believes in focusing on priorities that benefit Melrosians of all ages. His platform reflects what so many of us care deeply about:

• Reinvesting in our schools to support students and teachers,

• Rebuilding our roads and infrastructure so our neighborhoods remain safe and connected,

• Restoring community spaces and programming that bring people together, and

• Encouraging smart growth to keep Melrose affordable while supporting our small businesses.

Professionally, Brad brings nearly two decades of experience working in and around state government and public policy. As Vice President of Government Relations for the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts, he’s built consensus and delivered results in complex environments—skills that will serve Melrose well in City Hall.

What stands out most about Brad, though, is his deep commitment to community service. He’s not just someone who talks about getting involved—he’s out there doing it. Whether it’s serving on the Parks Commission, volunteering on the Melrose Youth Softball and Incarnation Baseball boards, or helping guide the Winthrop School Site Council, Brad shows up, listens, and works hard to make things better. Brad understands what makes Melrose special—its strong sense of community, its engaged residents, and the pride we all take in our city. I know he’ll be a thoughtful, approachable, and effective voice for our neighborhoods, someone who will preserve what we love about Melrose while planning responsibly for its future.

I hope my fellow Ward 4 residents will join me in voting for Brad Freeman for City Council—a dedicated neighbor, proven leader, and genuine advocate for Melrose.

Sincerely,

Keri Sullivan Cote
