Melrose Weekly News: Brad Freeman for Ward 4 Council

Written by Michael Milligan

Dear Editor,

In these challenging and often divisive times, the decision to elect a city councilor should rise above political parties or partisan politics.  Our community requires leaders who prioritize action, collaboration, and common-sense solutions that truly serve the needs of their neighbors, while also ensuring long term financial stability.  As a 10-year resident of Melrose, I wholeheartedly believe that Brad Freeman exemplifies the qualities needed to lead and is the best choice for Ward 4 Councilor.

Brad’s guiding principle, “practical progress together,” captures the essence of what our community needs right now.  It is not about grandstanding or ideological battles, but about working together to make tangible improvements that enhance our quality of life, strengthen public services, and foster a welcoming environment for all residents.  This message of unity and pragmatic problem-solving shows a deep understanding of the

challenges we face and a genuine commitment to addressing them.

I have witnessed Brad’s unwavering dedication to Melrose through his consistent involvement in community activities.  As an Incarnation Coach, he demonstrates compassion, mentorship, and support for the kids seeking to play ball while being part of a great community.  His leadership on the Incarnation Board reflected his ability to listen, understand each person’s perspectives, and help find common ground—traits

that are essential for an effective city councilor.

Moreover, Brad is a great dad who knows firsthand the importance of safe neighborhoods, quality schools, and family-friendly policies.  His role as a parent grounds him in the everyday realities faced by many of us and motivates him to

advocate for practical solutions that benefit children and families throughout Ward 4 and the city at large.

Equally important is Brad’s reputation as a person of high integrity.  In public service, character matters profoundly.  We need council members who act ethically, transparently, and with the community’s best interests at heart.  Brad’s integrity has earned him trust and respect from neighbors, colleagues, and community leaders alike.

As we approach this important election, I encourage my fellow residents to turn away from the divisiveness of national politics and focus on what really matters at the local level:  electing a leader who will work collaboratively, act decisively, and put our community first.  Brad Freeman is that leader.  His vision for “practical progress together” aligns with the values and needs of Ward 4, and I am confident he will serve our community with dedication and respect.

Please join me in supporting Brad Freeman for Ward 4 Melrose City Councilor.  Together, we can build a stronger, more connected community while ensuring sound fiscal principles.

Many thanks,

Michael P. Milligan
